Description

The new style poly float for the Smidley 915FVF float and valve. High density poly, 4 1/4 inches by 3 inches, and the piece that rides the water and tells the valve when to shut.

Specifications

  • Part number: 915FVF float, new style
  • Size: 4 1/4 by 3 inches
  • Material: high density poly
  • Mounts on: the six inch float arm, at any of its mounting points
  • Fits: Smidley #3 and #5 cattle fountains with the new style assembly

Where it sits

The float threads onto the six inch float arm, and the arm meets the fountain valve through a pair of adjust screws. Moving the float along the arm changes the depth the trough fills to, and the screws hold whatever you set.

Common questions

Which mounting point should I use?
Start where the old float was. The arm offers several points so one arm suits more than one fill depth, and the original position is the one your fountain was set up with.

Is the float repairable if it takes on water?
No. A float that has taken on water sits low and cannot be dried out or sealed, so it is replaced rather than repaired.

Old style or new style?
This is the new style float. If your fountain runs the earlier assembly, order the old style 915FVF float and valve and ask us about the matching float.

Can I buy the float, arm and screws together?
Yes, the complete new style 915FVF assembly has all of them plus the valve.

Match it before you order

Measure the old float. This one is 4 1/4 by 3 inches. If yours is a different size or shape you have the other style, and a message with a photo will settle it.
