Hoskins Mfg Co. has been building automatic livestock waterers in Hoskins, Nebraska since 1966. Every unit in the line is the same idea carried out at different sizes: a stainless steel tank, an insulated 16 gauge galvanized frame wrapped around it, and an electric element mounted in the frame so that it never touches the tank. Heat reaches the water through the air space rather than through a hot spot on the steel, which is what owners point to when they talk about these staying open in hard weather.
Sizes run from a 17 in. stall waterer holding three gallons up to a ten-foot trough rated for 500 head, across four species. Below are the four waterer lines and the parts that keep them running.
