Description
Description
The blue valve fitted in Tusker livestock waterers. It is a Monticello valve with a 3/4 inch base thread and the smaller .25 orifice, and it is the piece that opens and closes against the float to hold the water level in the trough.
What the .25 orifice is for. The narrower orifice is the one to run where water pressure is on the higher side. A wider orifice fills so hard that the float cannot close the valve cleanly against the incoming water, and the result is a trough that overfills or a valve that never quite shuts. If your supply is in the normal range the wider .45 version is the usual choice instead.
How the valve is built. A one piece base that keeps its shape when the nut is drawn down, a slotted vent cap that relieves pressure and assists the anti siphon function, and a crowned plunger that turns as water passes it, so grit and rust work their way through rather than settling into the seat.
The same valve is sold under three brand names
This is the valve Monticello supplies to several waterer builders, so you will also find it catalogued as a Pride of the Farm and a Brower VM200. If your old valve carries one of those names, this is the correct replacement for a Tusker waterer and nothing about the fit changes.
Buying it as part of an assembly. If the float and the stem need renewing at the same time, the Tusker float and valve system puts the valve, the oval float and the stem hardware together in one part number.
Not certain which orifice your waterer wants? Tell us your water pressure and we will point you at the right one.
