Valve cover, C-Models VOE
The VOE valve cover for the Hoskins cattle line. One cover serves the whole range, from the 28 in. tank up to the 120 in., so long as your unit is the VOE build. The VIC cover is a separate part at a different price.
Hoskins describe the job of this part on their own parts page: the valve cover protects and insulates the Bob valve and the float. It is the insulating half of that sentence that matters most in February. A cracked or missing cover lets cold air straight onto the valve, and a frozen valve will take a tank out of service faster than a tired heater will.

Covers do not cross between builds
Several Hoskins units are made in more than one build and the valve covers are not interchangeable between them. The designation is stamped on the waterer. If you cannot find it or cannot read it, send us the serial and we will look it up rather than have you guess at a part this size.
Lid and cover are separate parts
The galvanized top panel is sold on its own, so if the lid is all that is damaged you do not need to buy the whole housing. The matching lid for your model is listed separately.
