Hoskins small thermostat
This is the control for the A and AA model Hoskins heaters, the A250 and the AA500. It makes and breaks the circuit to the heater so the unit holds water open without running the element around the clock.
Small for A and AA, large for everything else
Hoskins uses two thermostats across the range. The small one on this page goes on the A and AA model heaters. The B, 2B, C, 2C and 3C heaters take the large thermostat, which is a separate part at a different price. Match the thermostat to the heater, not to the waterer.

When the thermostat is the problem
Two symptoms point at the control rather than the heat. A waterer icing up with a heater that tests good, and a heater that never cycles off. Both are the thermostat.
Fitting it
Hoskins asks for a GFCI breaker where local code requires one and advises a licensed electrician for work inside the waterer.
