Hoskins 1 in. plunger
The plunger is the piece inside the Bob valve that meters how much water gets through. It is a wear part: once it has been seating and unseating for enough seasons it stops closing cleanly, and a valve that will not quite shut is usually a plunger before it is anything else.
Match it to the valve, not the tank
Plunger size follows your valve size, and valve size follows the model. Hoskins lists the plunger in four sizes and the 1 in. is the largest. No current waterer model is specified with a 1 in. valve, so this one is usually for an older unit or a special build.

A cheap thing to try first
If the tank runs on, or dribbles and never settles, work through it in order: plunger, then the valve, then the float. The plunger is the least expensive of the three and the most likely culprit, so it is worth having one on the shelf.
