Description

Hoskins 1 in. Bob valve

Solid brass, with BOB cast into the body so there is no mistaking it once the cover is off. This is the valve that fills the tank: the float rod bolts to the lever arm, the float rides on the water, and the valve shuts as the level comes up.

Valve only

Size is set by your model and is not a matter of preference: too small and the tank will not keep up, too large and it will not shut off cleanly.

Specifications

  • Size: 1 in.
  • Material: solid brass
  • Marking: BOB cast into the body
  • Supplied as the valve only

Fitment

Hoskins lists the Bob valve in four sizes and the 1 in. is the largest. None of the current waterer models is specified with it, so it is usually ordered for an older unit or a special build. Send us your model number and we will check before you order.

The usual reasons a valve gets changed

Grit off a new line, mineral scale from well water, or a seat that has simply worn after enough seasons. If the tank overflows or dribbles constantly, the valve is the first thing to look at, then the float and the rod. All three sit together in the same insulated compartment.
