Description
Description
When you're watering a large number of livestock, capacity and reliability matter. The Ritchie Thrifty King CT6 Automatic Waterer (Part #16440) is designed to provide fresh water for larger pastures, feedlots, and fence line applications with six individual drinking stations that allow multiple animals to drink at the same time.
One of the features that has made the CT6 a popular choice for years is its heavily insulated design. The water reservoir is completely surrounded by insulation, while the patented ThermalEqualizer® drinking well helps maintain more consistent water temperatures throughout the unit. During the summer, the covered drinking openings help keep water cooler, reduce evaporation, and limit debris from entering the reservoir. The covered design also helps discourage mosquitoes from breeding in standing water.
The CT6 uses Ritchie's elliptical drinking closures, which require less effort for livestock to open than traditional round balls, making them easier for animals to use while still helping retain heat during colder weather. The unit is designed for energy-free operation when installation requirements are met, and optional immersion heaters and heat cables are available for operations located in colder climates where supplemental freeze protection is recommended.

Thrifty King Energy Free Requirements
- There must be at least 10 animals that have the Thrifty King fountain as their only source of water.
- There must be a good seal against wind between the concrete platform and base of the unit.
- The water seal grooves between the base, and top of the unit, and between the top of the unit and the valve cover must be filled with liquid.
- The supply water temperature must be at least 42o F. (This may be an issue for rural or municipal water supplies.)
Installation is KEY! Follow the manufacturers recommendation. Thermal Tubes are recocommended. If possible, consider running electricity in the event your watering situation changes heat protection is needed. Stop and waste valve recommended with evry new installation.
