Why Champion

  • Made in Minnesota, Made in the USA

Bakko Industries braids, sleeves and finishes every Champion rope in Minnesota. Not imported and relabeled.

  • 12 to 15 Percent Stretch, Low Recoil

Monofilament polypropylene stretches 12 to 15 percent, enough to take the jolt out of a pull without storing the energy a nylon kinetic rope does. Less stored energy means less to let go if something breaks.

  • Will Not Absorb Water or Stiffen in the Cold

Polypropylene floats, sheds water and stays flexible when it is cold, which is usually when you need it. It will not freeze into a bar in the pickup box.

  • Cordura Sleeves Where It Rubs

Every loop and sling is sleeved in Cordura from the factory. Bakko will sleeve the full length if you expect to drag it across gravel.

  • Resists Fuel, Oil and Chemicals

A rope that lives in a tractor toolbox meets all three. Polypropylene shrugs them off.

Which Champion Rope Do You Need?

Bakko rates every Champion rope by tensile strength and matches it to the equipment it is built to pull. Find your machine in the right hand column, then buy that rating or the next one up.

Not sure? Size up.A rope that is one rating heavier than you need will outlast one you are pulling at the top of its range, and it costs you nothing in safety. Match the shackle or ring to the rope rating too, not to whatever is already hanging in the shop. The 150,000 and 200,000 pound ropes are not stocked, so email us and we will order one in.

Champion Tow Rope Questions

Choosing and Using This Rope

What size tow rope do I need for my tractor or equipment?

Choosing the right tow rope depends on the weight and horsepower of the equipment being pulled. Champion Tow Ropes are rated by tensile strength from 12,000 lbs up to 200,000 lbs, making it easy to match the rope to your application—from ATVs and pickups to large tractors and heavy equipment.

For best performance, operators typically match the rope rating to the tractor horsepower or load weight to ensure safe and effective pulling.

What makes Champion Tow Ropes different from chains or standard tow straps?

Champion Tow Ropes are made from monofilament polypropylene, which gives them a unique advantage over chains and standard straps.

  • They stretch 12–15%, absorbing shock during pulls
  • This reduces dangerous recoil compared to chains
  • They are lightweight, water-resistant, and flexible in cold weather

This combination makes them a safer and easier-to-handle option for farm and heavy-dut

Are tow ropes safer than chains for pulling equipment?

Yes—tow ropes like Champion are generally considered safer than chains because they are designed to stretch and absorb shock.

This stretch helps:

  • Reduce sudden jerks when pulling stuck equipment
  • Lower the risk of equipment damage
  • Minimize dangerous snap-back or recoil

Champion Tow Ropes are specifically engineered to handle these loads while maintaining control during pulls.

What are Champion Tow Ropes used for on the farm?

Champion Tow Ropes are commonly used for:

  • Pulling stuck tractors, combines, and grain carts
  • Towing farm equipment in muddy or wet conditions
  • Heavy-duty applications like construction and drainage work

They are designed specifically as a towing device for agricultural and heavy equipment use, making them a go-to solution during harvest and fieldwork.

Where are Champion Tow Ropes made?

Champion Tow Ropes are manufactured in the United States by Bakko Industries, based in Minnesota.

This U.S.-based manufacturing is a key selling point for many producers looking for durable, reliable, American-made farm equipment.

Safety, Care and Shipping

How do I use a tow rope safely?

Hook to a rated recovery point or a drawbar, never to a ball hitch, a bumper or a suspension part. Keep everyone well off to the side and out of the line of the rope. Lay a heavy blanket over the middle of the rope. Take the slack up slow and pull steady rather than running at it. Off road use only.

How do I care for it and when do I retire it?

Rinse it, dry it, coil it, and keep it out of the sun. Look the whole length over before every pull for cuts, glazing and pulled strands, and check the Cordura sleeves on the loops. A dirty rope is fine. A rope with cuts into the core is done.

How does this rope ship?

Most Champion ropes ship UPS. The large diameter ropes get heavy in a hurry, so anything over 75 pounds ships freight and this page will show a freight quote link when that applies. Visit each unit for pick-up options.
