641-236-5822 on Your Valve Cap? You Have a Miraco Grey 521 Valve

That number belongs to Miraco, and the valve under that cap is a Miraco valve.

If the valve body is grey, the part you need is the Miraco 521 grey high pressure valve. If it is blue, you need the 521B. Both are below.

People find us because of this number. There is no part number printed on the valve where you would expect one, but the manufacturer’s phone number is molded into the cap on top, so that number is what identifies the valve. Customers quote it to us all the time.

The number you are reading

Molded lettering wears, and it is usually read in poor light at an awkward angle. Any of these is the same number:

641-236-5822 641 236 5822 6412365822 (641) 236-5822 641.236.5822

If the number you are holding is the toll free one, 800-541-7866 or 8005417866, that is the same manufacturer and the same answer.

Grey or blue? That is the only question left

Miraco has used several valve colors over the years and the color is what decides the part number. Take the cap off and look at the body of the valve itself, not the cap.

Grey body

You need the Miraco 521 grey high pressure valve. It is the current production valve, rated 40 to 80 PSI, flowing an average of 12.5 gallons per minute.

Blue body

Yours is the older 521B. The grey 521 replaces it one for one — same threads, same pressure rating, same flow — so you can fit the grey valve and change nothing else in the unit.

Orange or red body

Older still, and the grey 521 replaces those the same way.

One thing that catches people out

A whole valve swaps across colors. Internal repair parts do not. Grey valves take grey internals and blue valves take blue internals, so if you are rebuilding rather than replacing, match the color of the valve in your hand and not the color the waterer shipped with.

For a grey valve, that is the Miraco 521 grey valve internal parts repair kit.

Still not sure?

Send us a photo of the valve and the cap through our contact form and we will tell you which one you have. We would rather spend two minutes on a photo than have you fit the wrong part.

If you want to read more about why a Miraco valve starts leaking and what to check before you replace it, we wrote that up separately: Miraco 521 valve, blue vs grey, leaks and repair.
