The Ritchie Petcock High Pressure Valve Replacement 18839 is often found in the larger, long automatic waterers such as the WaterMaster Series by Ritchie that feature the constant flow option.
Often used in winter as a flow control / bleed-off (petcock) valve to maintain steady movement of water to help prevent freezing.
What this part is. The 18839 is the high pressure petcock valve replacement. Ritchie publishes no description of its own for this one, so we are not going to invent specifications it does not state.
Ritchie’s own installation guidance for the supply side. Ritchie calls for a 3/4 inch supply line as the minimum and recommends 1 inch, with the horizontal run buried at least 4 feet deep or 1 foot below the local frost line, whichever is deeper. Where pressure runs high, the 18649 pressure reducing valve package is set at 45 PSI.
