Floats on top of the water to help retain heat in the winter increasing energy efficiency and keep the water cooler in the summer. Made of durable plastic with tapered edges to allow easy access to the water. Can be used in all EcoFount units.
Please note that these were used in the older style, all metal, Commander series units as well.
What Ritchie calls this part. Ritchie’s own parts listing gives 14412 as: Thermal Cap. That wording is worth knowing, because it is how the part appears on the unit breakdown you are working from.
How Ritchie says to size a thermal tube. A thermal tube should extend at least 1 foot below the local frost line. Ritchie builds the 18158 as a 1 foot top for shallow frost lines and the 16612 as a 4 foot top, and the 16416 2 foot extension stacks onto the 1 foot top to reach any depth. The 1 foot top will not work with the 4 foot thermal tube — that is Ritchie’s own note, and it is the easiest ordering mistake to make on this part.
