Hoskins B500 heater
Five hundred watts on 120 volts. Hoskins specifies the B500 on the 32 in. sheep units and on the 28 and 36 in. cattle tanks.
Not the same as the AA500
Hoskins builds two different 500 watt elements. The B500 here goes on the sheep and cattle tanks listed below. The AA500 is a separate part for the HC17 horse waterers and the 34 in. hog troughs. Same wattage, different part, different price.

Before winter, not during it
An element that has failed is only found out when the water is already freezing. Check it in the autumn: power on, element warm, thermostat cycling, and the ground tested. It is a short job in October and a miserable one in January.
