Description
Description
Hoskins A250 heater
Two hundred and fifty watts on 120 volts, and the element Hoskins fits to the small horse tanks, the 22 in. sheep units and the 14 and 22 in. hog troughs. Small tanks turn their water over quickly, so they do not need much help.
Wired in, not plugged in
The lead comes out bare-ended rather than on a plug, so this is wired into the waterer. Give the unit its own breaker and have the ground checked while the cover is off.

The heater code is printed on the plate on your service door. That code, not the tank size, is what has to match.
Before winter, not during it
An element that has failed is only found out when the water is already freezing. Check it in the autumn: power on, element warm, thermostat cycling, and the ground tested. It is a short job in October and a miserable one in January.
