Newborn and pre-weaned pigs carry very little energy reserve, and a cold, wet pen pulls what they have straight out of them. That is the setup for scours. Dual Dry from TechMix works on both halves of the problem, the pig and the pen it is lying in.
Rub it on a newborn piglet, working vigorously from neck to tail until the pig is dry, and sprinkle it on comfort mats and flooring to pull up the moisture there. The dark color absorbs radiant heat, which helps bring a chilled pig back toward a normal core temperature, and the multiple textures in the bag both dry the pig and help lift the membrane off.
Drier mats also mean less moisture for bacteria to work with. TechMix rates it at twice as absorbent as other desiccants. Use it right after farrowing, on any pig that is cold, wet or scouring, and through the stretch when pigs are most likely to scour.
