Description
Description
Miraco's BIGspring series is a one piece body built from high impact polyethylene and fully insulated for year round use. It is corrosion resistant and tough enough to stand up to animal abuse, and it is the preferred choice of beef and dairy producers nationwide.
The 6300 holds 110 gallons and gives twelve feet of open trough, the most water of any BIGspring, in a body that is still only 22 inches wide.
- 110 gallon capacity for up to 300 beef cattle or 150 dairy cows
- Twelve feet of open trough at a 22 inch drinking height
- Only 22 inches wide
- Bottom drain for fast, complete draining
- No wrenches required for valve compartment access
- Rubber gasket for an air tight seal under the valve chamber cover
- Stainless steel anchor bolts included
For cleaner water, a neck rail is required to keep cattle from standing in the water. A 10 inch to 12 inch stem wall is recommended.
Heat is available for this unit. We recommend Miraco heat package 162, the complete kit, which pairs the 543-5 immersion water warmer with the 919-5 cable heater so the trough, the water line and the valve are all protected. A 240 volt heater is also an option. Both are sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many head will the BigSpring 6300 water?
How many head will the BigSpring 6300 water?
Miraco rates the 6300 for 300 head of beef cattle or 150 dairy cows. It holds 110 gallons, the most of any BigSpring, and gives twelve feet of open trough at a 22 inch drinking height in a footprint that is still only 22 inches wide.
Will it freeze, and do I need a heater?
Will it freeze, and do I need a heater?
The BigSpring is an open trough waterer, so in a freezing climate it needs heat. We recommend Miraco heat package 162, the complete kit. It pairs the 543-5 immersion water warmer with the 919-5 cable heater, so the trough, the water line and the valve are all protected, not just the water in the trough. A 240 volt heater is also an option. Run either one on a dedicated circuit with a ground fault breaker.
How do I drain and clean the 6300?
How do I drain and clean the 6300?
Lift the float to shut off the water, then pull the bottom drain and let the trough empty. The trough clears out and scrubs down quickly. Put the drain back and release the float to refill.
What does installation take?
What does installation take?
Set the unit on a level pad with the water line coming up inside the base, bolt it down, hook up the supply line and set the float. Most people have it watering the same day. The footprint drawing and the instruction manual are both on this page, so you can pour the pad and stub the line in before the unit arrives.
How do I get at the valve and float?
How do I get at the valve and float?
Release the spring loaded clips and lift off the valve chamber cover. The valve and the float sit underneath it. No wrenches are needed, so a float adjustment or a valve change is a few minutes of work, and every part inside is listed on the BIGspring 6300 parts breakdown.
Tip: while the cover is off, check the gasket underneath it. If the gasket is damaged or missing, replace it.
Do I need a neckrail with the 6300?
Do I need a neckrail with the 6300?
Yes. Miraco calls for a neck rail on the 6300 to keep cattle from standing in the water. Twelve feet of open trough is a lot of water surface, and a rail keeps the water clean and cuts down on how often you drain and scrub. A 10 inch to 12 inch stem wall is recommended.
