Description
Description
Miraco's BIGspring series is a one-piece body built from high-impact polyethylene and fully insulated for year-round use. It is corrosion-resistant and tough enough to withstand animal abuse, and it is the preferred choice of beef and dairy producers nationwide.
The 6200 was designed for free stall barns. At 22 inches wide it centers between stalls without taking alley room, and the flat back sets flush against a wall or a panel.
- 60-gallon capacity for up to 200 beef cattle or 100 dairy cows
- Seven feet of open trough at a 22-inch drinking height
- Only 22 inches wide, sized to center between free stalls
- Flat back design for a flush fit with a wall or panel
- Three access panels
- No wrenches required for valve compartment access
- Two large three-inch drains at the end of the trough for quick draining
- Rubber gasket for an airtight seal under the valve chamber cover
- Stainless steel anchor bolts included
For cleaner water, a neck rail is required to keep cattle from standing in the water. We recommend a 10-inch to 12-inch stem wall.
Heat is available for this unit. We recommend the Miraco Heat Package 162, the complete kit, which pairs the 543-5 immersion water warmer with the 919-5 cable heater so the trough, the water line, and the valve are all protected. A 240-volt heater is also an option. Both are sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many head will the BigSpring 6200 water?
How many head will the BigSpring 6200 water?
Miraco rates the 6200 for 200 head of beef cattle or 100 dairy cows. It holds 60 gallons and refills as animals drink, and with seven feet of open trough at a 22 inch drinking height a group can come to water at the same time.
Will it freeze, and do I need a heater?
Will it freeze, and do I need a heater?
The BigSpring is an open trough waterer, so in a freezing climate it needs heat. We recommend Miraco heat package 162, the complete kit. It pairs the 543-5 immersion water warmer with the 919-5 cable heater, so the trough, the water line and the valve are all protected, not just the water in the trough. A 240 volt heater is also an option. Run either one on a dedicated circuit with a ground fault breaker.
How do I drain and clean the 6200?
How do I drain and clean the 6200?
Lift the float to shut off the water, then pull the two large three inch drains and let the trough empty. The trough is built on a slope, so it clears out and scrubs down quickly. Put the drains plugs, part 984, back and release the float to refill.
What does installation take?
What does installation take?
Set the unit on a level pad with the water line coming up inside the base, bolt it down, hook up the supply line and set the float. Most people have it watering the same day. The footprint drawing and the instruction manual are both on this page, so you can pour the pad and stub the line in before the unit arrives.
How do I get at the valve and float?
How do I get at the valve and float?
Release the spring loaded clips and lift off the valve chamber cover. The valve and the float sit underneath it. No wrenches are needed, so a float adjustment or a valve change is a few minutes of work, and every part inside is listed on the BIGspring 6200 parts breakdown.
Tip: while the cover is off, check the gasket underneath it. If the gasket is damaged or missing, replace it.
Will the 6200 fit between free stalls?
Will the 6200 fit between free stalls?
That is what it was built for. The 6200 is only 22 inches wide, so it centers between stalls without taking alley room, and the flat back sits flush against a wall or a panel. A gravity fill assembly is available as an option.
