Description

The VP226 is the high pressure VP2 valve with a brass threaded body, and it is what Brower fits as standard on the MC, MJ and MK steel drinkers. The 1/8 inch orifice is the smaller of the two openings, and the smaller opening is what lets the valve hold shut against a hard line.

The brass body is the part worth paying for. It takes being wrenched apart and put back, and it lasts longer on hard water than poly does. Beyond that it is the VP2 design: a longer plunger travel that moves more water per stroke, and no diaphragm, cam link or power link to replace later.

Matching a VP2 to an older VP1 is a matter of the last two digits. A waterer that came with a VP124 takes the VP224, a VP121 takes the VP221, and so on. The fully assembled VP2 valves are the VP221, VP223, VP224, VP226 and VP227.

Replacing a VP1 valve

The valve base and the assembly nut can stay connected to your water supply line. There is no need to break the plumbing to fit a VP2.

Hook up notes

  • Flush the lines thoroughly first so no grit reaches the valve
  • Do not put a wrench to the valve body, it does not need that kind of pressure at any point
  • Hold the inlet pipe securely while you connect it to the supply line
  • The knurled ring on the valve is hand tight only. Where the valve base meets the pipe fitting, use Teflon tape or pipe seal, then hand tight plus a half turn with a 1 inch socket or box end wrench

Defiantly will buy again, highly recommend this product.

Was a direct replacement for an old model valve, easy to install and worked with the original float.
