Three gallons of clean water on demand, delivered through four side mounted nipples instead of an open trough. That is the whole appeal. There is nothing for birds to scratch bedding into, nothing to tip over, and no daily scrubbing of a fouled drinker.

The bucket is translucent so you can see the water level from across the coop, and it is UV protected to hold algae back. The lid twists to lock and is sloped so birds cannot roost on top of it, and it lifts off for cleaning. The handle uses Little Giant’s patented bucket grip, model 166713, which leaves clearance between your hand and the bucket when you carry it and still lets the hydrator hang.

Each of the four nipples serves up to four birds, so one unit covers a small flock, and it arrives fully assembled. Hang it so the nipples sit at the birds’ eye level, which varies by breed. Birds take a little while to learn a nipple drinker, and the trick is to take the other water sources away and tap each nipple so they see it drip. Once two or three work it out, the rest follow.

This one is for adult birds, and it is not built for freezing weather.
