Description
Description
A full pallet of 100 slabs, about 215.2 square feet of coverage. The best price per slab.
The Hahn Paddock Slab is a permanent ground surface for paddocks, arenas, exercise runs, feeding areas and trails. It is designed with hoof care in mind and rated to load class SLW 60 under DIN 1072, so it carries heavy vehicles as well as horses.
- 15.75 x 19.625 x 1.625 inches per slab
- 4.6 pounds each
- Made from hanit, a 100 percent recycled plastic
- Suitable for low impact development projects
- 20 year manufacturer warranty
Paddock Slabs need ground preparation before they go down, so plan on a proper base and a real install. In exchange you get a finished, permanent surface rather than a reinforcement mat. If you want something you can pick up and move later, look at the Mud Control Grids instead.

What installing them actually takes
Mud Control Grid
- Clear off loose debris and knock down the worst of the high spots. You do not need a level base.
- Lay the first grid down on the mud and press it in.
- Interlock the next one into it and keep going. The joined grids brace each other into a self supporting surface.
- That is it. No gravel, no fabric, no tools.
Grass grows up through the open holes over time, which locks them in further.
Paddock Slab
- Excavate and prepare a proper base. This is the real work, and it is not optional.
- Grade and compact the base to the manufacturer specification.
- Lay and join the slabs across the prepared area.
- Fill and finish according to Hahn’s technical guide.
Plan on equipment and time. In return you get a permanent, finished surface.
Not sure how many you need? Measure the area in square feet and divide by 2.7 for grids, or by 2.15 for slabs. Order a little over rather than a little under, since the edges are where you always want a bit more.
Mud Control Grid or Paddock Slab
Both are Hahn, both are 100 percent recycled hanit plastic, and both carry a 20 year warranty. The difference is whether you want something you can pick up again.
Mud Control Grid
- Lay it on top of the mud. No gravel base, no digging, no tools
- Movable. Lift it, add to it, take it with you
- 19.5 x 19.5 inches, about 2.7 sq ft each
- About 15 lb each
- Holds 5.6 tons per square foot
- Best for gateways, feeders, water troughs, lanes and soft spots
Paddock Slab
- Permanent. Requires ground preparation and a proper install
- A finished surface, not a reinforcement mat
- 15.75 x 19.625 x 1.625 inches each
- 4.6 lb each
- Load class SLW 60 under DIN 1072
- Best for paddocks, arenas, exercise runs, feeding areas and trails
Renting or boarding? Go with the grids. They are not attached to anything, so they stay yours. A paddock slab install becomes part of the property.
Common questions
Do I need a gravel base under the mud control grids?
Do I need a gravel base under the mud control grids?
No. That is the main thing that separates them from most ground reinforcement. You lay them straight on top of the mud and interlock them. Paddock Slabs are different and do require ground preparation.
Can I move them later?
Can I move them later?
The grids, yes. Lift them, add to them, or take them with you. That makes them a good option if you are boarding or renting, since they never become part of the property. Paddock Slabs are a permanent install.
Will they hold a tractor?
