Description
The Classic Equine by Ritchie AutoFount 2 gives a barn of up to 40 horses clean water on demand, with no buckets to fill and no hose to drag down the aisle. It is the larger of the two AutoFounts, and the one most boarding and training barns end up with.
What separates the AutoFount from a cheaper waterer is the quick refill. The valve brings the trough back up fast enough that a horse finishing a long drink is not left standing over an empty bowl, and the covered design means the horse is drinking what it just drew rather than what has been sitting open all day. The fully insulated poly casing holds temperature, so the water stays cooler through summer heat and loses less warmth as the nights turn.
As it ships, the AutoFount 2 is not heated. For barns that see freezing weather, the immersion heater and the self regulating heat cable turn it into a year round waterer, and both are sold separately so you are not paying for heat you do not need. If you want heat built in from the start, look at the UltraFount 2, which also has a stainless steel trough.
Cleaning is a short job. The cover is hinged, the surfaces slope toward the drain and the 3 inch drain plug empties the trough quickly. The polyethylene carries a 10 year warranty.
