It takes being wrenched apart and put back, and it lasts longer on hard water than poly does. Beyond that it is the VP2 design: a longer plunger travel that moves more water per stroke, and no diaphragm, cam link or power link to replace later.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMatching a VP2 to an older VP1 is a matter of the last two digits. A waterer that came with a VP124 takes the VP224, a VP121 takes the VP221, and so on.
