The label on the yellow shroud tells you which one is on your wall. Everything above the trough is common to all three. The trough is the part that differs — \u003cstrong\u003e18477\u003c\/strong\u003e fits the 120V and 240V units, \u003cstrong\u003e18487\u003c\/strong\u003e fits the no-heat unit. Only the heated versions take a heater, thermostat or cable heater.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eHeated models.\u003c\/strong\u003e The 120V units use the 125 watt heater \u003cstrong\u003e14150\u003c\/strong\u003e with disc thermostat \u003cstrong\u003e11885\u003c\/strong\u003e, plus cable heater \u003cstrong\u003e13830\u003c\/strong\u003e for the supply line. This is the question we are asked most often about this valve, and the common belief is wrong: the valve is \u003cstrong\u003enot\u003c\/strong\u003e meant to screw in until the threads disappear. Most of these are small fixes.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003col\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eDebris in the line.\u003c\/strong\u003e On a new install, if the line was not flushed before hookup, something small can lodge in the valve and stop it sealing. Flush the line.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eMineral buildup on the valve rubber.\u003c\/strong\u003e The usual cause on an older unit: buildup keeps the neoprene from seating tight. Flip the rubber over, or replace it with part 15151, sold in packs of 10.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eWorn parts.\u003c\/strong\u003e A float that has taken on water and sits low, or a wing nut or thumbscrew that has worked loose or stripped, will let the trough overflow. Replace the worn piece.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eToo much water pressure.\u003c\/strong\u003e Check the pressure before going further. The signs are a valve that drips constantly and will not shut off, a float without the buoyancy to close it, and valve rubber that comes out distorted and will no longer lie flat. Move up the chart to the next valve, or fit a pressure regulator ahead of the unit.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eWater hammer.\u003c\/strong\u003e A pressure surge can make the valve sputter and look as though it is not shutting off.
